Welcome to the Gastroenterology, Immunology and Neuroscience Discovery Program, where we find solutions to chronic health conditions through cutting-edge research of the gut-immune-brain axis.

About the GIN Discovery Program 

The GIN Program was born in 2021 from a single powerful idea shared by three researchers: exploring new ways to collaborate beyond traditional research silos to foster a culture of integrated science. The program now consists of over 180 world-class scientists and clinicians who are passionate about improving our understanding of the gut-immune-brain axis.

Our Suggested Programs

Brand and Marketing 

  • Develop GIN's social media presence and online capabilities

Business Development

  • Conduct partnership outreach within Monash University (societies, clubs, other groups)

  • Contact key guest speakers for our events 

  • Strength relationships outside of the Monash Community

Student Ambassador 

  • Represent and promote GIN at student and public events (e.g. open days, "Moodle Bashes" (lecture and forum informants))

  • Connect students to the GIN program  

  • Strength relationships with students and academia

Science Communicators

  • Represent and promote GIN at public events (e.g. open days, "Moodle Bashes" (lecture and forum informants))

  • Communicate the science to the general community at events 

  • Strength relationships with the general public

  • Promote science education

  • Application process: filtering questions like disciplines, experience, interests

  • How would they fit in the team?

Interviewing

  • Interactive
  • Getting the opportunity to meet the team (student) and for GIN to look at their capability. 
  • A suggestion may be to prepare a small task or portfolio to present - if unsure of capability

Selection process

  • Discussions between the team about who would be ideal in which areas 

  • Trial periods of working with the team to see if they can fit in!

  • Repeat if neccesary
